Six Indian students have participated in an outreach program by an Abu Dhabi -based Institute to spread awareness on sustainable development and alternative technologies in #Ladakh region. Young Future Energy Leaders (YEFL) members and Indian representatives from various academic institutions participated in an eight-day workshop on "Energy Access, Ethics and Development" to learn about energy systems, micro-grid design with community participation, and social #entrepreneurship. Students from Students Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (#SEMCOL), Jammu University, Industrial Training Institute in Leh, and Thapar University in Patiala formed the Indian delegation. The course of the program, focuses upon designing energy-efficient systems in rural and remote communities and formulating socio-development measures with a particular emphasis on Ladakhi communities. During their workshop, the representatives also had a chance to meet Tibetian spiritual leader the Dalai Lama who appreciated their enthusiastic activities in the far northern Himalayan region. The workshop was jointly organised by YFEL, the #DalaiLama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at #MIT and SECMOL.
