Six Vice-Chancellors removed from their posts in the last four years at the University of Mauritius. The last one is Professor Raghooputh whose interview in Le Defi Plus reveals his independent mind . For example, he refused to accede to the demands of students asking for Rs 950 000 for travel. It is learnt that students need not have their H.S.C certificate to become a graduate or even a barrister in Mauritius. There are comments coming from students from the University of Mauritius that you can walk in even without a school certificate and come out as a graduate. It is in line with government objective to make every household have a graduate. At the World University Web Ranking ,Mauritius University plunges dowm from its 37th position to the 97th.
