Six including a minor boy injured in an explosion on NH-2 Six persons including a minor boy were injured when a bomb exploded near a banyan tree behind the Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai road on National Highway No 2. The incident occurred this morning at around 9.30. The injured people were passing the area in an auto-rickshaw when the explosion took place. The injured have been identified as Md Allaudin Khan, 45, son of Md Sallaudin of Lilong Chajing, Thongam Leibakmacha, 62, Thongam Premchand age 6, Asem Bijoy, 20, son of Shyamkishwor of Thoubal Khekman Mayai Leikai, Md Jiur Rahman 20, son of Habibullah of Lilong Mairenkhong, and Makakamayum Rabina, 30, wife of Md Kabir of Lilong Ushoipokpi. Most of them were injured in the chest, head and neck. They have been admitted to RIMS hospital and reported to be out of danger. Sources told Impact News that the blast took place soon after a ministerial team led by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi passed the area on the way to Chandel to inspect Mini Secretariat and Hospital building. Top police officials including DGP, Saheed Ahmed rushed to spot to take stock of the situation. No one has been arrested in connection with the blast. Locals said an army vehicle also passed just after the CMs team. Police bomb disposal squad who rushed to the spot claimed that the bomb might be an IED and detonated with a remote control device.
