Six years ago today I got a call. The voice on the other end of the phone said, Carol you have cancer. Over the next several months many people helped me on my frightening and painful journey back to health. Today I would like to say thank you. To Richard my loving husband and my rock. Your love makes me feel beautiful and whole even as I look at my scars. I could not have done this without you. To my two angels, my brother John and his wife Melissa. John I drew on your quiet strength and spirituality more than you ever knew. Melissa you were my nursemaid and friend. Both of you sitting with me before and after the many surgeries and with Richard while he waited the hours to hear that I was okay. I will always be grateful for all that you did for both of us. To my sisters Laurie and Jamie. Your caring words and the gifts of your time meant the world to me. To my children and grandchildren, your love wrapped me in a warm cocoon. I love you all. To my adoptive parents who checked in on me nearly everyday and were there anytime I needed them. To my friends Sherry and Eddy, Rich and Betsy, Lois. You were there to love and support me, to advise me. I am grateful for you all. To my friends from work, Jean, Jeremy, Kathy and Peggy. You were all beyond supportive and loving. If I have missed mentioning anyone just know that I am grateful for all that you did and all that you were during this. Know that I love you and because of all of you I have survived and today am whole and healthy. Six years guys, seems like an eternity and a blink of the eye all at once.
