Sixteen Alachua County elementary and high school teachers participated in a seven-hour workshop Saturday called Project WET, or Water Education for Teachers, hosted by the University of Floridas School of Forest Resources & Conservation. Project WET is a nonprofit organization that offers teachers training workshops and educational materials for the classroom. One outdoor activity called for participants to use sand to create a map of a watershed on the grass outside the UF Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences facility, where the workshop was held. The map included springs and lakes in addition to numerous branching tributaries.
