Slavery In Disguise Ask someone — Are you a slave to anyone or anything? The instant, rather indignant, response will be — “No way!!” On the surface, it does not seem so, yet, if one digs deep, one finds that as one goes through life, mind is enslaved to so many things in pursuit of lasting happiness. One clings desperately to the past, to emotions and perishable objects — house, money, property, bank-balance, car, etc. We claim to use things, but more often than not, things ‘use’ us! When it comes to relationships, human beings can be divided into two categories — the weak and the dominating. An untrained mind, full of ego and attachment, greed, lust and pride, seeks validation from outside, hence remains forever in bondage to objects, people and emotions. Whereas one connected to the Source is emotionally centred, mentally strong and breezes through life, savouring each precious moment.
