Slavery is being depicted as a choice made by Africans to come to this country, give up their families, their culture, their faith, their heritage, and their freedom to HELP Americans with the harvesting of their crops by picking cotton of their own free will!! It has been written in history books that our youth are being taught from...... REALLY!! This country only gives us a month to celebrate OUR historic figures, OUR HISTORY, when WE HAVE IN ACTUAL FACT NOT JUST BLACK HISTORY, WE ARE A LARGE PART OF AMERICAN HISTORY! It should be taught ALL YEAR ROUND, not just in February and then forgotten for the rest of the year! This country was built on the blood, sweat, and tears of the people who were brought here AGAINST THEIR WILL! Stolen from their homelands, beaten, raped, separated from their mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, and children. Forced to conform, give up their names, heritage, faith, and culture to work fields that made the masters wealthy who sat back never getting a dirty hand while their slaves delivered their babies in the dirty and was made to continue to work! How dare you try to minimize the years of devastation and degradation, the absolute hell on earth that was inflicted by your choice on a people given NO CHOICE!! Stop acting like this was something they wanted to go through and admit the truth, they were FORCED NOT ASKED, they were stolen and sold not invited and accepting, THEY WERE ENSLAVED not willing participates!! TELL THE TRUTH TO OUR YOUTH Just like you teach American History every day....... CELEBRATE THE STRUGGLE, THE PERSEVERANCE, THE TRIUMPH, THE RISE, THE PHENOMENON THAT IS BLACK PEOPLE EVERY DAY TOO! #MYBLACKISPHENOMENAL #TelltheTruth #LibertyandJusticeforALL
