To me, I hear the song and I see us – and not to be weird – but charging down the hill towards the doubters, the naysayers, the people who might have thought that this band was down and out. It’s us just saying, ‘Nope – just when you thought you had us fi gured out, we threw you for another loop, so here we come again, and you’d better prepare yourselves…’ The lyric ‘We are kill gods’ basically means that we destroy everything in our path that tries to bring us down, and this band is fairly notorious for rewriting its own history. We kill the images behind us and recreate them going forward.” Jim: That song was a little bit of a struggle because in the arrangement that I had (from my garage) it didn’t really seem to jive with how Corey wanted to arrange it vocally and we had to keep going back and re-arranging that song and sort of re-thinking the way it was put together, but it ended up coming together really nice. We thought the riffs and the parts in the song were really great but it just didn’t seem like it had a good flow to it. So we tried a few different things and that’s what we ended up with and I think it’s pretty good now. It’s one of the barn-burners on the record and one of my favourite ones, y’know. I think that’s an actual term [sarcastrophe] – Corey explained it – I can’t remember exactly how he explained it. But I think it’s like when you answer somebody with a sarcastic statement or you put something sarcastic at the end of a sentence. And that may not be exactly what that is but as far as like the lyrical content and the song titles I’m not going to be too much of a help on some of that stuff. Para mim, eu ouço a música e eu nos vejo - sem soar estranho - marchando com tudo e descendo a colina contra os que duvidavam, os pessimistas, as pessoas que poderiam ter pensado que esta banda tinha acabado e estava fora do jogo. Somos nós apenas dizendo: Não! Quando você pensou que tinha nos compreendido, nós o jogamos em outro loop, então aqui vamos nós de novo, e é melhor se preparar... A letra We are kill Gods basicamente significa que nós destruímos tudo em nosso caminho que tentar nos derrubar, e essa banda é bastante notória para reescrever sua própria história. Jim: Essa música foi um pouco complicada, porque no arranjo que eu tinha (na minha garagem) ela não parecia casar com o que o Corey queria colocar no vocal e tivemos que ficar voltando nos arranjos da canção e repensando a forma como a montamos, mas acabou sendo montada de forma muito boa. Nós pensávamos que os riffs e as outras partes da música eram realmente incríveis, mas simplesmente não parecia que tinha um bom fluxo nela. Então, nós tentamos algumas coisas diferentes e foi assim que terminamos ela e eu acho que ficou muito boa. É uma das incendiárias no álbum e uma das minhas favoritas. Mas eu acho que é como quando você atende alguém com uma declaração sarcástica ou você coloca algo sarcástico no final de uma frase. E pode não ser exatamente isso, mas enquanto conteúdo das letras e os títulos das músicas eu não vou ser muita ajuda em algumas dessas coisas.
