Small preschool program in Merrick seeks substitute for our lead preschool teacher who is going on maternity leave at the beginning of January, 2014 for a period of approximately 6 weeks. (Date is approximate) The Lead Teacher has responsibility for planning the daily program for children within an assigned age group. Plans and implements activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth of the children under her/his care. Responsible for the personal care, hygiene, learning and development activities, specialized programs and discipline of the children. Maintains classroom records, cleanliness, and safety. Keeps parents informed of the progress of their child on a daily basis. Will be assisted in the classroom by an Assistant Teacher. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am-4 pm. To be qualified for this position you must have at least 2 years experiences as a lead preschool teachers and preferably, an Associates degree in Early Childhood or related field or Child Development Associate or 9 college credits in Early Childhood or Child Development with a plan leading to a CDA or Associates degree.
