Smallest import Leon Rodgers of Ginebra can take on bigger foes, say Ato Agustin, LA Tenorio With its frontcourt twin towers of Japeth Aguilar and Greg Slaughter already set, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel opted to tap a wingman in Leon Rodgers to reinforce the team in the Commissioner’s Cup. The high-scoring veteran has impressed during the Gin Kings’ tuneup games, including a 116-103 victory over the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers that saw Rodgers finish with 38 points. For Ginebra coach Ato Agustin, Rodgers is just what the doctor ordered for Ginebra. “Of course,” Agustin told InterAksyon. “Magma-mature pa yan para makuha yung style of play namin.” Starting point guard LA Tenorio concurred, saying Rodgers is the right fit for the squad. “The good thing about him is he’s not forcing his shots. He’s looking to pass pa nga. He’s a good addition for us,” said Tenorio. “He’s also a leader inside the court and he knows what he’s doing because he’s already a veteran. Yun ang kailangan namin. He’s been doing all the talking and the teaching, especially sa mga big men namin.”
