Smart Pill is an interactive pill-dispensing device, for both - TopicsExpress

Smart Pill is an interactive pill-dispensing device, for both elders and their caretakers, that is accompanied by an integrated smartphone application. You will no longer have to remind yourself to take medicine or struggle with unscrewing difficult-to-open medicine bottles. The dispenser automatically syncs with the free smartphone application regardless of how many different medications are equipped. Each pill compartment has a light sensor to tell the user how many pills are left (green= full, yellow= running low, red=empty). Each pill bottle that is inserted into a compartment has a RFID chip that communicates with the dispenser and the application to ensure that proper medication is dispensed. The dispenser’s sleek and aesthetic design complements any decor and comes in 5 different custom colors. Each Smart Pill device comes with two 6-pill compartment dispensers for $65, but additional dispensers can be purchased separately for $25. The application organizes all medication and prescribing doctors, creates a schedule of when the user must take said medication, alerts the user and/or caregiver when it is time to take medication, and notifies prescribing doctors and pharmacies for refills. The app removes human error from the equation to make taking pills an effortless task. Market: There is an obvious need for a product like this because there is a history of overmedication/forgetting to take medication, especially among the elderly population. The target market for Smart Pill is the mature population ages 65+, however people of all ages are able to use Smart Pill.
