“Smart” ways to cheat exams? Millions of students across China took the annual national college entrance exams at the weekend. Each year the examination brings out the best and the worst from students. While the competition and the desire to achieve their dreams propels some to work harder, there are others who succumb to the pressure and seek shortcuts. For example, one of the devices confiscated this year was a camera placed along a pair of glasses. The camera is remote controlled through a special coin. It could record the questions and send them to a third party, who could then help with the answers. It’s not just glasses; tiny cameras were also hidden in pens and water bottles. The receivers and audio devices were smartly concealed in wallets with tiny earpieces completing the ensemble. And finally, while we’ve all heard of snoops and snitches wearing a wire. But students getting wired for an examination, is taking it a bit too far. What’s more, this device gets very few marks for creativity.
