Smoke free sites help us to provide a healthier environment for all who visit and work in our premises and our Smoke Free Policy has recently been amended so the use of e-cigarettes is no longer permitted on our sites. This is in response to concerns about the safety, efficacy, and potentially harmful emissions of e-cigarettes and that their use on health board sites may also undermine efforts to de-normalise the act of smoking. Since July 2012, our premises and grounds have been designated as smoke free and this applies to staff, contractors, visitors and the public and patients (except for those residing in residential mental health units who will be exempt under the Smoke Free Premises (etc) Wales Regulations 2007). More than two-thirds of all smokers say they want to quit. Everyone has their own reasons for wanting to stop smoking, such as saving money or protecting children from second-hand smoke. There is plenty of support available if you are interested in stopping smoking. For more information on giving up smoking and support services available visit smokefree.nhs.ukStoptober
