Snippets from Ramadhan Programme @ masjid Hajjah Fatimah. Day 28. - eighth year after migration, there was the expedition of the Conquest (Ghazwah al-Fath). Greatest conquest by which Allah honored His religion, His Messenger, His army and His safe Sacred Precinct. Took place in Ramadhan. - treaty in Hudaybiyah was violated, Abu Sufyan kept asking for new agreement but Rasulullah saw kept turning his face away. - Quraysh given three options, pay blood idemnity for those killed, dissolve treaty with Bani Bakr or war. But they refused all options except war. - Rasulullah saw set out on 10th while fasting until when he reached Usfan, he broke his fast and ordered the rest to do so too. - Rasulullah saw alighted at Marr al-Zahran where he met Abu Sufyan. After reconsideration and mutual understanding, Abu Sufyan accepted Islam and took amnesty for the people of Mecca. - Rasulullah honored him by announcing whoever enters the mosque in Mecca is safe and whoever enters Abu Sufyans house then he is safe. - a lot of rulings come from Rasulullahs saw seerah. There are those who learn Quran and Hadith without the seerah, which causes them to lack the inner sight. - most wahabis even with their wrong understanding of syariah or aqidah, we do not make takfir on them. Even when they call us mushrik. When someone makes takfir upon another, it is definite that either one will be a kafir, if one is wrongly accused, then the takfir falls back on the accuser. - Imam Ashari, who grounded the aqidah belief, he said, I do not make takfir to anyone who face the qibla. - after the conquest, the Quraysh were all considered enslaved by Rasulullah saw. He then asked, How do you think I will treat you? And the Quraysh answered, like a genuine brother, like a genuine nephew. And so he (saw) freed them all. And this made many of them convert. - We can only leave leaders when you see clear signs of kuffar in him. There is a narration which mentions that upon you is to listen and obey your leader even if a black slave from Habasha rules you. And the companions asked, What if he takes from us and doesnt give us? Rasulullah saw told them to do what they are supposed to do (obey the leader) as the leader will be judged in akhirah. - how about the case in non Muslim countries? If they are Muslim ministers, agreed by the intelligent scholars (of honorable people) and appointed by them then yes have to obey. But the problem now is that we dont know who these scholars are. (Hal ahli wal aqot ?) - even if a Qadhi is a lady, where it is haram to appoint a lady as a Qadhi, but in darurat cases where a lady is appointed, we still have to obey - Being a Qadhi in a way bars you from the dunia. There are many nimahs of the world that they cannot have. - some of the leaders in the arab world, they just want the dunya. Theyre using the name of religion to gain dunya. Politics involves doing business out of people, not to give service to people. If someone really intends to give service people, there are many other greater areas. If you really love Allah and Rasul, you will leave politics aside. - Imam Abu Hanifa was instructed to be a judge by the king. But he refused. And he gave two reasons 1) if you want me to speak the truth, I dont deserve it 2) if you want me to lie, I deserve it - We dont give positions to people who wants it. - the time of Imam Mahdi, he will know who to choose and will put people at the right place. His ministers will be chosen based on taqwa. Only scholars can be his ministers as they will rule with the Quran and sunnah. - when Malik Ibn Awf entered Islam, he said in poetic verse I have not seen not heard of anyone Amongst all of mankind like Muhammad. - Nobody can be like Rasulullah saw. We can try to emulate but we can never fully reach his level. - Once a Bedouin came in a mosque and started to urinate in the mosque. The companions were already prepared to attack him but Rasulullah saw out of his mercy and wisdom, told them to let him finish first. How would someone feel if he was relieving himself and another stops him halfway? They waited for him to be done and Rasulullah saw then told him nicely that the place was for dhikr and worship not for dirty things. The Bedouin then looked at the companions who had clear signs of anger on their faces and then looked at Rasulullah saw who was smiling and then he supplicated, Oh Allah bless Rasulullah and myself but dont bless others. And Rasulullah replied, You have constricted something that is white. And he (saw) advised the Bedouin again. - we shouldnt drive people away from mosques. It is the source guidance for people. There are some who insists the non-Muslims must do the junub bath. What junub bath? Thats only for Muslims. If theyre not harming anyone, then we shouldnt prevent them from coming. - Manat (?), al-Lat and al-Uzza. The three great idols. - Hunayn expedition, previously mentioned before - Sariyyah of Ali to al-Fuls - an idol that belonged to Toyy - together with 150 men. Graves of kuffar that was elevated from ground and that was honored, were destroyed. They were told to destroy the graves of the mushrikeen, not Muslims! But there are people who feel that this is applicable to all. - Kaab Ibn Zuhayr came to Medina after the conquest of Mecca as a Muslim, having repented and seeking intercession by means of his well-known ode (qasidah): Suad has parted, so my heart today is love-sick Lost after her, unable to ransom [myself], shackled. - he was the first companion to author the burdah. Rasulullah saw gave him his shawl thereafter. Suad is a womans name but it is not to be taken literally, just like leyla, it is not to express their dunya counterparts but rather a way to describe Rasulullah saw. - there are three people who authored the burdah, the other is imam Busairi - Abu Bakrs father accepted Islam at a very old age. He had fully white hair and white beard. Rasulullah saw then asked to dye to another colour. - sometimes when rulings are made, scholars may try to provide the wisdom behind such rulings. But at times certain rulings may contradict the general ruling. And at such instances, you ponder and just come to a conclusion that in the end Allah just want to instruct and observe you if you follow or not. Islam means submission. Is what Allah wants it to be and thats it. - ninth year after migration, also known as the Year of the Delegations because of the numerous delegations that came to visit him (saw) - the delegation from Najraan came to debate about Isa as. Verily, the example of Isa in Allahs sight is like that of Adam whom He created from dust... [Quran 3:59] Also, the verse of mubaahalah was revealed against them. Quran [3:61] In a challenge (mubaahalah), Allah will cause the one challenging with falsehood to perish. - Abad bin Bishr. There are three. One who died in Yamaamah, one buried in Yemen. But the wahabis mistook the one buried in Yemen as the Abad bin Bishr who died in Yamaamah and they placed a signboard there to indicate as such. - wherever Khalid Ibn Walid went for war, he would bring Kaab Ibn al-same at-Tamimi. He was equivalent to a 1000 men, a warrior. - Musaylamah made an agreement with Rasulullah saw that if he was given prophecy, he would convert to Islam. But Rasulullah saw told him that prophecy does not belong to him (saw) but to Allah. - he wanted prophecy for the dunya. He apostatised and falsely claimed Prophethood and lied to people. His tribe knew he was a fake, they would even laugh at his false messages. But they didnt want to bow down to Quraysh so they obeyed him. - Musaylamah made his own version of surah al-Fiil (the elephant). The elephant. Has a long trunk... - he also made a chapter called The Frog - he wrote a letter to Rasulullah saw from Musaylamah Rasulullah to Muhammad... When Rasulullah received the letter, he didnt even bother writing on a new parchment, he just turned the letter over and wrote, from Muhammad Rasulullah to Musaylamah al-kazaab (the liar) - when Rasulullah saw would at times give new names to people. Better names. One day he (saw) met Hazn (which means sad) and Rasulullah saw gave him a new and better name. But Hazn was reluctant to change his name because it was given by his father/grandfather. And Rasulullah saw told him, you are indeed sad.. And not only did he remain sad, but his descendants were all sad. - The people of Yemen have come to you; they are the most soft and delicate hearted. Faith is Yemeni and wisdom is Yemeni. In another narration ...I am Yemeni. Because Nabi Ismail as married a Yemeni, thats where he learnt Arabic as well. - the expedition of Tabuuk. Allah Most High called it The Hour of Difficulty because it happened at a time of severe drought, heat and lack of provisions and mounts. It was the only expedition that Rasulullah saw would inform the companions from the start to prepare them mentally and physically. - other expeditions, he would tell the companions that theyre going to a certain location but halfway, he will change location. Because halfway, the spies would leave the group halfway. Wallahualam. #RP2014
