Snow in New York, Hurricane in Albany, Is the Governor In the Path of the Storm? The Northeast is bracing for a potentially historic, life-threatening snow storm that could snarl life as we know it from New York to Boston. As we get a dose of the frigid weather that made last winter the worst in recent memory there is already a hurricane rocking Albany and may be on the verge of blasting the stink of corruption from our rotten State Capital, roiled by the federal multi-count corruption case against State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver. Silver, the states second most powerful political figure after the governor is now accused of earning millions for paybacks in an elaborate scheme uncovered by the US attorney…and I’m asking -what NY governor Andrew Cuomo knew of Silver’s antics, -when he knew it, -and whether Silvers alleged wrongdoing was why the governor shut down his own anti-corruption panel? I’m not saying the governor is corrupt. I have no evidence nor have I heard anything that would indicate Andrew Cuomo is the kind of greedy, sleazy, low down and dirty party boss the evidence indicates Sheldon Silver is… But why exactly did Governor Cuomo shut down his Moreland Commission investigating precisely the corruption uncovered by the federal probe… He did Silver’s bidding. Remember, it was the now accused Assembly Speaker who tried to quash the Moreland Commission’s subpoenas relating to the outside income that Assembly members routinely rake in from business and lobby groups trying to buy favors…especially, but certainly not exclusively the real estate developers who stand to make tens of millions on projects springing up in the currently red hot Manhattan and Brooklyn real estate markets. Why exactly did Andrew Cuomo shut down the Moreland Commission? Whether youre a Republican or Democrat are you satisfied that you have gotten an honest accounting of that process? Is it a fact that having created the anti-corruption commission the governor then killed it because it threatened his pals and the corrupt way of life that has made New Yorks capital a cesspool? What was Mr. Cuomo afraid of?
