Snowstorm in Upper Midwest, Great Lakes; Severe Weather for Southern, Central Plains An active weather period is expected the rest of this week and not all of the precipitation will be liquid as another spring snowstorm is forecast over Northeastern Minnesota into extreme Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Snow amounts may locally approach 8-12 inches. While it will feel like winter across the northern tier of the country, more spring-like weather will situate over the Southern and Central Plains where severe weather is likely today. Storm Prediction Center forecasters said several factors will aid in development of thunderstorms, particularly in the vicinity of the cold front and dry-line in Kansas. It appears the biggest threat is large hail although conditions appear favorable for a few tornadoes.
