So, Adrian Peterson is now on paid leave from his NFL team the Minnesota Vikings. The pendulum has now officially swung too damn far in the wrong direction. IF indeed he is a vicious, brutal child abuser then yes, he should be suspended from the NFL for AT LEAST YEAR or perhaps even indefinitely. My issue is that there has been zero clarification as to the extent of abuse he allegedly inflicted on his child. Was this a matter of a parent simply disciplining his son? Maybe. Could this be a case of yet another high profile NFL athlete that has split his wig, cut the fool and beaten a child beyond reasonable punishment? Maybe. The point is that we dont know and to suspend him on the possibility of what this could be is just plain wrong. I was disciplined by a switch as a child and I make no such claim of abuse. In fact, I am thankful that my parents cared enough about me to discipline me when I was wrong to help teach me the right way and point me in the direction of the man that I am today. I suspect if he had truly given his child the savage beating that is suggested in the media that pics of that beating or its aftermath would have long since been leaked and posted on facebook, twitter, instagram, ESPN, CNN and 20/20. If this is a case of a nosey bystander trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill, what have we as a society gained? If the latter rather than the former is the case, we have just given weight and form to a whole new day of unfounded accusations leading to knee jerk and public reaction without proper facts. #whateverhappenedtodueprocess?
