So Dan Slott teased at NYCC that he might have plans to make baby - TopicsExpress

So Dan Slott teased at NYCC that he might have plans to make baby Benjy and Mayday Parker Orphans and kill her boyfriend,Wes...He wants me to find him a yell at him full on Tyra Banks-style, doesnt he? Like I dont mean to rant, and Ill probably delete this but Im gonna throw all my feelings into this right now and I just want to scream. MayDay Parker, AKA Spider-Girl from the long, but not as long as you think, defunt MC2 comics line from Marvel Comics, was my first introduction to a solid female lead in comics, and honestly many others. She was the daughter of Peter Parker in this alternative world of the Marvel universe. The comics were perfect for kids starting out because it gave you characters that you could relate to without throwing twists and turns that might not be appropriate for children. But it was never written like it was for kids. It wasnt watered down, it had heart. Ill be honest I dont think I would have read any 616 title if it hadnt have been from the wonderful introduction I got reading Spider-Girl growing up. The series also gave a lot of other kids I met through being fans of this comic series, a solid happy marriage and family in The Parkers that they didnt see in real life. Spider-Girl also makes a decent penny for in merchandise today for young girls..including American Dream, a Captain America female counterpart that came from MC2 comics as well. Now if Im to believe what Im reading, May will be on the cover for this issue, and does anyone REALLY believe this will get young girls to continue to read Spider-Man comics if they see the character they like dressing up as(regardless if its a pink and purple tutu and tiara) being thrown through the gauntlet and possibly being killed off as well? How is that encouraging in anyway, shape or form? Explain this to me? Ill reserve my longer rant on how I feel like lately a lot of comic writers, Slott included, are making their comics a boy only zone and alienating a lot of female fans... Now I am aware, its entirely possible that Slott is doing what he does best, and thats tease and troll the hell out of us to read the story..and everything will be fine. But with a story this big banking on MC2s unrelenting fan base (we save Spider-girl from the chocking block multiple times throughout its run.) Im a bit doubtful. I just am really tired of comics feeling the need to throw out stories with any heart and soul and trade them for shock and awe and think thats going to sell enough comics...havent we learn that isnt enough anymore? Or are the comics just filler in-between movies and cartoons, now? Im just pretty upset that this might be my last Spider-Man series, hell my last Marvel series I ever read. I hope you guys are happy you lost another female reader after this.
