So HERES THE TRUTH about Steeples Survey & The Sale of Steeples!! I want to thank everyone for taking the survey and helping me understand the direction that this business will need to go in to compete well in this economy and demographic. First of all........YES Steeples is for Sale and a sale is pending. Yes I am contracted to manage the business and help train the new owners for a few months. It could take place anywhere in the next few weeks or months. I am in a financial position where selling is really my only option and sometimes life takes us in a new direction and I really feel my time in Shawnigan and the restaurant business is coming to a close. Its bitter sweet for sure. I am so excited to move on with a new challenge in my career and my career change will be well displayed on CHEK TV as I am on a Reality TV show called The Hard Way. Imagine having your life unfold on camera and air across Canada and especially here at home. Yes I can say Im nervous, however I like pressure and we all know thats how diamonds are made. Anyway, this is my year and my first priority is to put Steeples back in the forefront of everyones mind when thinking about a great lunch or dinner and of course birthday and anniversary. I will say that I am 100% committed to the success of this business as I always have been but even more so as I do own the building and having a great tenant that is thriving is most important. From results of the survey a large majority still see us as fancy and a special occasion place only. Of course we love to be a favorite place for birthdays and anniversaries and weddings. In the last 5 years we have worked hard at being a casual locals place but at the same time offer unique gourmet food that is worth the drive over the malahat or from Duncan etc. We basically have failed at being a locals place and have had to resort to offering a groupon program to keep new people coming. I also realize we have had a few hiccups with past staff and some chefs and that seems to be the norm in this industry and when we have a GEM we do all we can to keep them on our team. Im always happy when people use us as a stepping stone as they climb the ladder of their careers and I have a great ability of attracting new people that help make a mark. Haha........not always the mark we want but hey, life has its challenges and in this business its a constant. We have a new chef Adam Michelson and a new manager Amanda Schaffner. This along with Maria Spivey are my management team. We are working hard at looking at the survey results and focused on giving Shawnigan Lake exactly what it desires. We did find out that many people want us to stay the same. They dont want Tvs and we heard that loud and clear. They want good food at reasonable prices. We have been doing that for a couple years now so please come down and see what we offer in the $15-$20 price tag. Yes we have burgers on our dinner menu. For those that think we are trying to be fine dining, please understand that has never been my plan. Thats why it says Casual Dining in purple neon on the front door. We have tried to deliver excellent food at excellent prices. The service is or is meant to be effective and friendly yet not pretentious. I wanted to be the Cactus Club of Shawnigan Lake and I am going to continue to strive for that. I would love to offer as much local meats and products as we can afford. Please join us again soon so that we may show you the efforts we have made and the quality of the food and service is better than it was and will only get better. try our Sunday brunch this easter....250-743-1887 Thank you!!
