“So He told them this parable, saying, “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, `Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.”” Luke 15:3-7 As concerned as God is for us who already know and love Him, He’s even more concerned for those who still need to find Him! It’s obvious, Jesus says, if you’re a shepherd and one of your sheep is lost, you leave the rest and go looking for that one until you find it. Here, Jesus explains why He spends so much time with sinful people. Jesus never condemned sinners, but at the same time he did not condone their sin. Jesus explained the love of God and that sin would separate one from God. Jesus came to this earth to show sinners a better way of life and to know of the personal relationship one could have with God. God loves you so much. He cares for you and provides for you. But if you’re no longer lost, you’re not His greatest concern. He wants you to feel the deep concern He has for lost people around you who need to be “found”. God Bless!
