So I am dozing off and on, in a hospital room. Thanks for all the prayers and kind words! It was hard to get the pain under control after surgery. They overdosed me on Dilaudid. The jerky nurse Patrick said he gave me enough to kill a normal person. It was clear he could not stand me. I did stop breathing many times. Dr. Chang worked hard to keep me awake so they could tell me to breathe or in fact I might have died. The pain was still severe after four hours in the recovery room, so the lovely anesthesiology intern Dr. Chang finally admitted me for observation, and here I still am, I feeling much better with a dose of Dilaudid every two hours, as opposed to every five minutes in recovery. Nurse anesthetist Patrick will appear in my book Anal Cancer is Really Sh*tty. And he is okay with that. Bet he thinks I didnt hear or wont remember half the offensive things he said. But on a positive note, my left butt cheek is now considerably altered. Surgery was at 9 a.m. today. My surgeon is a god! And of course God has given me a great surgeon! I have pain but nothing like before (and the first few hours after) the surgery! Im numb down the back of that leg due to cut nerves, but the painkiller dose is stable, and Ill go home tomorrow morning. The mass turned out to be NOT the 4cm (golf ball size) the PET-CT showed, but an enormous 14 cm x 8 cm x 5 cm. Thats the size of a small pot roast. I have a drain in my butt, a tube through the skin, connected to a pint sized rubber bulb that keeps refilling with beet juice colored bloody fluid. I might weigh about ten pounds less, once the fluid from post-op swelling is all drained out. Lisas picking me up in the morning. And the pharmacy has already filled my prescription and delivered it to my room. U
