So I am starting a small project that would let me connect my mixing console to my FT-847. The output from the Program is a balanced connection. After watching Ham Nation and seeing how to do it, Im curious if the parts I have will work now. In Episode 36, George says that a 600:600 isolation transformer and a 600-1K ohm potentiometer would let me adjust and bring the line level down to mic level for the mic preamp in the rig to be able to handle the input with out it sounding overdriven or have hiss on the signal. Will the components I have allow me to do this? I know Radio Shack is not ideal for parts but Im trying to learn more about the electronic theory end of things, and I just dont want to blow up the preamp in the rig. Any suggestions or help?
