So I am trying to pin holiday themed projects and lessons since fall seems to be sneaking up on us. This is our first year, and I have my 4 year old on a mix of preschool and kindergarten level curriculum (mostly kindergarten). The obvious problem I have is that the mainstream lessons and celebrations tend to veer towards the religious. For instance I am aware that the traditional first thanksgiving story is pretty much baloney, but I cant find the REAL event anywhere and I dont like the idea of just having her make hand turkeys :-P. We will also be visiting family for thanksgiving, so I would like to explain the giving thanks to God aspect in a respectful way. Any tips or resources? I havent even considered Christmas yet, that just seems scary lol.
