So I checked the validity of this claim through Snopes, and it is untrue. Obama did send a high ranking official to attend the funeral of the General who lost his life in Afghanistan. It was Chuck Hagel, our Secretary of Defense. Obama also requested that the American flag be flown at half mast by all government offices. Personally, I dont remember seeing flags flown at half mast on behalf of this Generals death, so they must not have received the message! Obama did not send officials with this high-ranking status to the funeral of Michael Brown, although I believe that he should not have sent any government representation to this funeral, unless he intends to send the same representation to every funeral of an unarmed person killed by law enforcement; regardless of color, national origin or religion! Now that I am addressing the race issue, I will continue my rant with some food for thought. What about the black man in New York who was choked to death by law enforcement under the allegation he was selling cigarettes? Why were protests not immediately implemented on his behalf? After all he did express to law enforcement that he was choking and they did not respond accordingly; why do you think they ignored him? Alledgedly he kept resisting arrest. Accept the cards dealt to you and hire an attorney after the fact to plead your innocence if you feel you were wronged. This is were Michael Brown had responsibility in his own demise. Ask yourself, what would have happened if he had listened to the officers request that he refrain from jaywalking and get out of the street? What would have happened if he never committed a strong-arm theft? What would have happened if he did not run from the law? Also, what about the white people killed by black law enforcement? Same type of circumstances? Something to consider. Is this really racially motivated, or do certain situations present opportunities for Grandstanding by people like Obama, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to push their racism agenda for preferential treatment and pitting black against white thereby digressing to the pre-civil rights era and erasing the significant progress made in race relations over the past 125+ years? In most cases, law enforcement is not selecting people to kill based on race and they defenitely are not doling out preferential treatment to anyone who shuns their authority and assumes they are above the law. Law enforcement is not out there killing innocent people just because they feel like it! There are always extenuating circumstances involved. My point is to solicit all of the facts before making a determination as to who instigated the outcome. Use your common sense and refrain from acting upon emotion like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson who race bait and inflame peoples emotions for their own gratification. Dont fall into the trap!
