So I come to Goodwill Hpt, I see the somewhat large DONATION CENTER sign on the far end of the building, upon pulling in and then through my initial parking space, as there was a silhouette of a person standing in the doorway of the loading bay.....(this is how I know that God isnt only real, but that Almighty is under being an Understatement)....so I pull my truck on over and park, I feel their eyes all but setting me on fire as a step from my truck, drop my tailgate and head over to talk. Me:Hey man, how you doin tonight?! Him:Im doin alright, how bout yourself?! Me:Im doin pretty good, thanks for asking!!, I was wondering Bud, I have these blankets in my truck that Id like to donate, but before I do, I want to ask you a few things being that I have more that Im picking up and dropping off tomorrow. Him:Okie Doke, what ya wanna know?? (PLEASE NOTE:OKIE DOKE IS A TERM USED BY MYSELF EXCLUSIVELY) Me:Well, I was wondering, if you would be honest with me....I want to KNOW that if I give you these blankets, that they ARE going to get into the hands of those who need them....?! Him:Well, it depends, what conditions they are in.... Me:They vary, Bro. Some are fleece, some are quilt type blankets and some are army blankets??? Does it matter. Him:Not to me, but to them *Kinda interrupting* Me:Ok well I dont want to drop off blankets....What I want to..... *Interrupting ME back* hahaha Him:Look if you want me to tell you the truth,(tears welling up) I really want you to know how AWESOME(ANOTHER TERM I FREQUENT) it is that youre doing what youre doing, but honestly not many homeless people come in Goodwill to BUY anything, regardless of how cheap we sell it!!!! Your BEST bet would be to drop them off at a shelter or call social services to see if they take them. Thats the only way you will KNOW they got into the hands of the people youre trying help man!!!! Me:(Tears welled up, too)Thats what I needed to know, Bro. Thats exactly what I want to make sure of?!?! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! You have a good night my friend (raising my hand to kinda wave as I turn to walk away, then stopping to go back and shake his hand.) In fact, you have a BLESSED NIGHT.....(looking at him like I never caught his name as a start shaking his hand) Your name Bud, I never got your name??? I wanna know who to tell the manager they need to promote!!! Haha!!! Him:OH!!! Hahaha!!! You dont have to do that man!!! I appreciate it though.... Him:......Im Brandon. Me:*Speechless* eerily speechless.....Wow. Well. You have a Great night, BRANDON. It was nice to meet you!!! Him:(looking kinda puzzled) ha you too man, everything alright? Me:yep, yes sir, everything will be....thanks again bro, so much.
