So I decided to climb Sentinel Mountain today on a whim. Earlier in the day I had asked a Missoulan friend about hiking trails near the city. She gave me a few suggestions and warned me to educate myself on what to do in the event that I run into a Grizzly or Mountain Lion. Apparently they are pretty irritable this time of year. So as I was about halfway up the mountain I walked a few feet off the trail to check out this little cliff nook. As I approached, I realized that it was the entry to a narrow, but fairly deep cave. As I peered in my heart skipped a beat: a huge mane of hair and two yellow eyes stared back at me from the depths of the enclave. My flight response kicked in and kicked in hard. I backed away and began moving quickly down the path. Several seconds later I hear a voice. You caught me! I was just enjoying a bowl in this gnarly cave.
