So...I dropped off some school supplies and school uniforms today for a parent I met recently (her son had been arrested and was a part of the Diversion Program @ the SAO). She is a single parent with five children. She just got a job TODAY (she was laid off some time ago and her unemployment benefits ran out). She told me that her son (the one I met) was Baker Acted yesterday (third time this summer). She went on to say that they both are bi-polar and are on medication (the Dr. is changing the sons medication again). She said shes trying to do the best she can and recently purchased a mobile home for herself and the children. She was more than grateful for the school supplies and clothes. Why am I saying all of this? Because there is always someone out here fighting a battle we know nothing about. Some parent is struggling to make it. Someone is fighting just to be strong. Some person is tired of being tired. So...please extend a little compassion. Be kind when you dont feel like it. Give when you dont want to. Volunteer. Advocate. Serve. Appreciate the small things.
