So, I finally met the young man (looks grown) that is TALKING (whatever that means) to my 16.5 year old daughter last night. Ashley hung out at the mall with him, Haley, and Layton (yes, I took her siblings with her) for a couple of hours. He introduced himself to me and we spoke for about 30 minutes. He must have thought that constituted me getting to know him and meant he could pick Ashley up and take her out. LOL LOL LOL Poor boy!!! He must have me twisted as the girls say. He will have to do some hard time at my house for possibly months before I will allow him to take my little girl anywhere!!! I still have to do back ground checks, see his driving record, meet his family.......I always thought Ashley would date someone she grew up with or at least someone from my hometown. In a small town, you know everyone and their parents, grandparents, and all of their history. I knew who I would allow her to date or make her stay away from back home. This is totally different!!!! I did let him know that he was welcome at my home anytime (he was a charming fellow....but anyone can be for 30 minutes) and that her daddy is a big man and has knocked a man completely out with one punch and her step dad is a U.S. Soldier with perfect aim and a gun collection. I also mentioned that she has two older brothers. They may not even be TALKING anymore by this afternoon:) # overprotective parent # Ive turned into my mother
