So, I found this hilarious. Then a friend pointed out that some people are using this as a way of saying You see? This is why coders deserve to make 6 figure salaries and get all kinds of special goodies, and have office environments full of toys while others work in gray, lifeless hellholes, making a wage that isnt high enough for them to live under an hr away from their place of work. Our jobs are harder and more important than all other jobs ever, so we deserve more. And those people are, frankly, self important, entitled jerks who need to get punched in the face. Sadly, there are a lot of them in the tech industry. The tech culture encourages this kind of thinking, and its pretty sad and stupid, and ends up creating this rationalization for extreme inequality, exploitation, and generally abusive labor conditions for the majority, or at the least it encourages an ivory tower, not-my-problem mentality. However, all that said, I still found this piece bloody hilarious, and made a spectacle of myself cackling about it on the Bart.
