So.... I gave a homework assignment to my general music class that was to be turned in today. For it, the students were to listen to two short pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and to write a paragraph describing what they heard. (This is not a Mozart assignment, per se, rather, it was an exercise in thoughtfully describing music). Im now reading some of the assignments that were submitted..... I have three students (who clearly copied each other at the last minute) who listened to the Queen of the Nights aria from The Magic Flute.. They described the aria as soft, soothing, and calming... Ill just let that marinate with you guys for a moment.... Maybe I missed something?
