So I go to vote today at the same place Ive voted since we moved back to TX. Ive never had a problem. Today I go in and show my I.D. and the gal cant find me in the system. She sends me to the back table to Lester (name changed). As he scarfs down his McDonalds hamburger he says, this may take a few minutes, this has been happening all day. So I say, No problem. He proceeds to slowly dial his cell phone to the county to make sure Im legit. He says, Ill be put on hold, this could take a while. I wait and wait as we listen to his phone on speaker so he can eat his burger. We chit chat a little (chomp, chomp) and he tells me this happened to the first three people that came in this morning. I roll my eyes and wonder what is happening here. The lady from the county finally takes him off hold but in a panic Lester juggles his burger and accidentally hangs up instead of taking it off speaker. Im remaining calm. All I want to do is take my one minute to vote. Why is this so hard? He calls back and goes on hold again. Ugh! Finally he gets through and within a few seconds has a code for the lady to put in the machine and up pops my name. And why did my name not come up the first time? Somewhere in government world some little gremlin added an extra E to my last name. From where it came nobody knows. But the mystery has been solved, they place the sticker, I sign my name and vote. Upon leaving of course they make me fill out a special form to change my name. Yes, the name that they randomly changed for me. At least they were very pleasant people and were just as baffled as I was. Vote has been cast. True story. Carry on. Oh, and go vote.
