So, I guess I should make a formal announcement as the cat seems to have crept from the bag. . . Rumors are true. I have accepted the softlines ASM position at Sears, and I begin on Sunday! Obviously, emotions are all over the place regarding my decision. So are MINE!! But, ultimately it came down to the fact that retail is a part of me, despite myself. If you were to slice me open you would find it there, woven between the fibers of me, pulsing thorough the blue rivers below my skin. I love the creativity and the freedom and the fun and the exhilaration. I cannot continue to endure the tremendous emotional abuse that the patients at the hospital inflict on me for hours a day on a daily basis. I cant see myself being passionate about insurance claims and billing issues and reports. In nine years at Baptist I cannot recall a time when I ended the day feeling accomplished in any way. At Sears, I have the opportunity to create, to inspire, to guide, to feel that I made a difference every day. And I have finally been shown the respect that I deserve. I have finally been given a chance to really create my own destiny. Ive accomplished a goal that I set out for fifteen years ago when I faced the shelves of HBA at Target and whispered to myself, I want to be the boss. . . Im finally the boss. Lets do this Mighty Metro!! Its time to be number one!!
