So I guess it is time for a statement. (My wife’s words). I have been fortunate enough to have a great deal of followers and friends join me here on facebook for the past couple of years. I enjoy entertaining both on the air and on this medium. I also have many family and close industry friends here so I owe you all an explanation… It is true. I am no longer at K-Frog. This was not a malicious event nor was it for any reason that I caused (although that would have been a great story right?). Many times in corporations they must make changes. It comes down to “restructuring”. Believe me, it happens. I think I was actually the calmest person in the building today, surrounded by my friends in tears. I have worked for some of the biggest companies in broadcasting so it is not my first time going through this. These changes happen all the time. I hold no issues with CBS Radio. I have had my longest career run there at NINE years. I also worked with some amazing people who I care dearly about. My number just came up. To quote Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven, “We all got it comin’ kid.” So now begins the next chapter. I have hundreds of industry friends and family who blew up my phone today with love and support and potential opportunities down the road. I am a firm believer of supporting my close industry friends and they, in turn, lifted me up today. That’s what friends do! So what is next? I have been a morning guy, a production wiz, program director, music director, web guy and promotions coordinator at some great stations from country to classic rock and Top 40. I have been doing this 30 years! Yes, I was an embryo when I started. I wish to keep my family my priority. That is my #1 goal. That means not chasing a simple job at the expense of their world. Does that mean I will not move? Maybe. Does it mean I will move for a great job? Maybe. But that job will have to sell itself to my amazing wife and 16, 12 and 7 year old boys. (My daughter, thankfully, is grown up and moved out so she got off this carousel.) My career wish is simple at this stage of my life: I want a job that is fun and uses my abilities, has great benefit and decent pay and most importantly, will not disrupt my family life. Many call this stability. I call it a dream… And I can certainly dream. In the meantime, I will still be here on FB and looking for the next chapter and something to fulfill that dream of mine while I enjoy my family to the fullest. Thank you for your support and friendship. -Tommy
