So, I had a chat with someone recently... The reason I am bringing this up is because this person accused me of doing something that I dont see myself as ever having done, nor do I think I am now, and I absolutely detest people who do. I told this person that I was going back to school in January to finish my bachelor degree instead of exploring a lengthy employment screening process that (were I hired) would force me to drop out of college for a second time. Then I was promptly interrupted and this person said, oh, so youre just milking the system for all its worth, no, I get it. You want that government money for free instead of working. So, uh... Anybody who knows me or anything about me, knows that I have been working since I was 14 on a work permit. I have worked for everything I have had in my life, I dont take handouts. The way I see it, I signed up for and paid into the GiBill like so many other people in the military have. I also paid with four and a half years of my life to qualify for VA healthcare and education benefits. So what do you think? Am I milking the system for all its worth by getting my education on the GiBill? Am I another sucker off the proverbial teat? Am I just the same as a welfare scammer?
