So, I have been listening to a lot of Klezmer music the past few weeks. I absolutely love most all types of traditional music from different cultures and love playing the music myself if I can on the instruments I own. Well, the mandolin my grandmother gave me has been sitting for a long time now collecting dust among my guitar and banjo, and I have decided its time I learn to play it properly. I pick up most stringed instruments and can play a song or tune I know very quickly. Usually learning a tune within an hour and playing it well. Im familiar with how the mandolin should sound playing with them in bluegrass circles when I played my banjo. Tonight I thought that a mandolin would be good with this style of music, so I did a search on youtube to see if I could find some mandolin videos playing klezmer music. There are many videos and it sounds great with that style of music. So tonight I learned to play along with this song. The calluses that are normally on my finger tips from playing were almost gone from lack of playing the past few months. My fingertips feel numb from playing but dont hurt. My calluses will be back in no time!
