So...I have been reading the papers while in transit to Croatia ( where I am now, Zagreb in fact and if you are here Im playing tonight.....) and Im really saddened to hear of the death of author Sue Townsend. For those of you who might be reading this but perhaps arent from the UK she wrote The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4. A quintessentially English book about a young adolescent growing up in what was Thatchers Britain in the 1980s. I bought it for Alec my son whos 11, and he really got it, I had to explain the odd political satirical reference, but he loved it and Im sure hell be as sad as I am to hear of her untimely death aged 68. A short illness took one of the worlds funniest authors from us. she will be sorely missed. So RIP Sue and thank you for the legacy.
