So I have to stop getting angry over the nutter comments after Spiegel articles... Germans have done an amazing job of being conscious of history, but its become a selfish excuse, ironically enough, for a new brand of Realpolitik. They believe theyre enlightened to the idea that action requires ethical consideration and that inaction does not, which, taking advantage of their own history, excuses them from any consideration but financial self-interest, and allows them a constant feeling of national superiority of being above any fray. They seat themselves comfortably in the grey area of whether one should do a net good for the world if it means taking over partial responsibility for the remaining bad bit. Do I give risky medical that is probable to succeed, or should I keep my hands clean?
