So I just finished my sleep study and the best way to describe it is as a form of torture comparable to water boarding or being placed in the stocks like a pirate. You have electrodes hooked to your head, your face, your legs, electrodes hooked to electrodes....2 tight bands a la Fifth Element wrapped around your chest and waist. ...oxygen monitor, oxygen mask.... so you are now an itchy robot in an uncomfortable bed and in addition the room must be kept cold so the glue doesnt melt. Basically you just lie there awake, all night, drifting in and out of consciousness. You are not allowed to use electronics, the TV, and like a casino there is no clock so you dont even know how much of your sentence you have carried out..........upon awaking my nurse tells me I didnt need the mask, I only had a few episodes, but that I never got into deep REM sleep. I dont recall sleeping any! At all! So this morning I shall be released to my freedom and its been so long since Ive seen the outside. This is all I know. I wonder if Mrs. Wilson is still making those biscuits at the diner......
