So I just had to use this trick on a coworker. Point of note: To make things easier for the medics, dont fidgit with the ring too much, and no lotions or anything lubricating. In order for this trick to work, the string or floss needs to have the ability to grip the skin. Sadly, my coworker paniced while trying this and used some lotion on it. Thr result is that when the wax floss let lost grip on the skin, it cut into her knuckle when the ring was approaching the knuckle. The end result is a very sensative soar spot on her knuckle, an even more swollen finger, and the ring still on. I told her that it was time to go to uregent care, and that they were likely going to cut the ring off.
