So, I know a lot of folks have been asking me (privately) why they arent seeing a lot of activist stuff from me lately and if Im still supporting the work of GetEQUAL and GetEQUAL TX. The short answer is, work and hell yes. I had been running non-stop for around 4 years as part of a group of friends that put together and built up the Texas chapter of GetEQUAL. During that time, I struggled with employment. I suspect that the public nature of my activism played a huge role in that struggle but, I had to keep up the fight for equality. About this time last year, an opportunity to work in the identity security industry came to me and I could not pass that up so, Ive been focusing my attention on work and building my career. Yes, I still support my GetEQUAL family when I can and I urge others to do the same but, its just not in the same capacity that I had been before. I love what GetEQUAL has grown into. Between Heather Cronk, Kirin Rosemary Kanakkanatt, and Angela Peoples at the national level and of course my TX Family, Patrick M. Fierro, Koby GetEqual Ozias, Erin Susan Jennings and so many others who are continuing to push forward in this movement for equality, not just for the LGBTQ community but for all oppressed people, I have no doubt that we will one day see the more perfect union promised by our foreparents.
