So I look out the window, and theres this beautiful black German - TopicsExpress

So I look out the window, and theres this beautiful black German Shepherd? mix running around in the street. Of course there was. From the window, no collar could be seen, so of course, I couldnt tell if this dog would be socialized or not. It was still out there, dodging cars. Of course it was. So I went out. Dogs usually like me, and this one was no exception. So it both walked up to me as I walked to it. Petting it for a LONG while, I noticed it was still damp with sand and water and slightly injured on its back leg. The sand was probably from the river? This is a good way from the river! It was thirsty so I went home and got it some water and food. It refused to follow me. Some guy who works at a skateboard shop was interested in adopting him, but the dog was scared of him, clearly, so the guy left. I heard his friends saying he shouldnt get a dog. During this time I was on hold with the city for Front Street Animal Shelter - City of Sacramento. They answered and said it would be several days before they could send out a truck. Then I had no internet connection, so I was sitting on the DMV lawn with this poor dog and my phone and it wouldnt leave that spot. I was wondering how long I was gonna have to stand there trying to keep this dog from leaving and endangering itself. Or what I was gonna do if it came home with me. I had no idea. Suddenly a woman was behind me saying Oh thank God! You found him! I said, Is this your dog? She said, no, but she had seen it dodging cars on Broadway. She had been driving around looking for him so she could catch him so he would be safe. She worked at the DMV. I told her she was an angel dropped from heaven. I was so amazed that this was happening! She had her big van all open and ready to put him in there to take him down to the shelter and see if he was chipped! As we talked about the dog and how she had driven up and down Broadway looking for it, we noticed he wasnt even fixed yet. We knew thats likely that hes not chipped. She said she was gonna call him Broadway. If no one is the owner, I think its very likely Viv will take him home. She said she would tell me if she does. She just happens to be looking for a dog. I told her I thought it was really interesting how he refused to leave that spot where she found us. It was like he was waiting for her there. The moment she put a leash around him and started petting him, he relaxed and started to breathe more evenly and less panicky. It was as if he knew hed made it. He had to take a minute. Then he jumped in her van like he was ready to go home with her. God and the fates bless her heart! It really was like having an angel from heaven drop in and take care of an exact prayer. Wow. A truly remarkable experience. Anyway, look at this beautiful dog, Broadway! He isnt yours, is he? He has beautiful tan markings on his paws. He clearly enjoys trips to the river. Im fairly certain his new owner took him home today, as long as hes well enough. I am so grateful to have had this experience today. Thank you Viv, for being Broadways and my angel!
