So I read this article and while I think itll be quite nice when a more realistic option is provided for paying back our student loans, Im not sure this is it. How is this at all different from going to work to earn money to pay the loans back? Id be expected to volunteer and in exchange Id get what amounts to a student loan payment. I guess I dont see it as any different. No one here is so altruistic or egalitarian in their motives - they all want to get their student loans paid off and its as if theyre assuaging their liberal guilt by thinking that if they call it volunteering its better somehow. Sure, Ill volunteer to go to work... Just so long as Im getting paid for it! Maybe Im just a cynical curmudgeon, but thats just how I see it.
