So I realize that it’s been a VERY LONG TIME since I posted a rant on here, shamefully long, and for that I’m sorry. The past two months have been incredibly hectic and crazy, most of it good, some of it bad. But now that I’m finally settling into a rhythm, I have a new one for you guys. Here it is. I hate it when Christians say “I think the word “atheist” shouldn’t even exist. You guys aren’t really atheists. You’re just agnostics. To be an atheist means to know for 100% certainty that there is absolutely no god, no heaven, no nothing. And it’s not possible to know for certain because we’re down here and they’re up there.” I disagree with that. The motto for the US Justice System is (supposedly) “innocent before guilty”. Right? Because if it was “guilty before innocent,” mankind would wipe itself off the face of the Earth in about four hours. Same for REALITY. Reality works by “false until true, fake until real”. If it was the other way around, it we worked by the motto “real until fake”, can you imagine the chaos???? The turmoil, the utter breakdown of society?? We work by facts, evidence, things we can see, hear, touch, experience. If those things were to cease having value, anybody could say whatever they wanted and it would be “true until false.” A man could walk into a bank and say “I need $500,000 from my account. Unfortunately, I lost my credit card” and he would walk out with the money and by the time they realized it was false, he’d be in Vegas. Or an enemy country could tell us “hey guys, don’t worry, calm down. We’re not going hurt you. We like you. You’re good people.” And by the time we realize that that was false, it’s too late and there’s a mushroom cloud on the horizon. “True until false” does not and cannot work. And yet, that is exactly what organized religion expects us to do. They expect us to shut up, close our eyes and walk toward a cliff having no idea if there is even a bridge in front of us as they yell “Trust in God! Have faith in God and he’ll have faith in you. His Glory will protect you.” We don’t work like that. No I don’t know for 100% total certainty whether or not there’s a God just like I don’t know for 100% total certainty whether or not in an alternate reality, a three-eyed, four-armed leprechaun rides a rainbow-colored unicorn with a 24 karat gold saddle. But until it is proven to me beyond a shadow of a doubt, I DO know for 99% total certainty that there is no God.
