So I see a lot of people posting on facebook regarding the upcoming federal election. Firstly, good on you for caring about politics, however... A LOT of what I see on facebook is tantamount to intimidation and bullying and just not in the spirit of good political debate and informed discussion. Posting things like "if you vote for this evil man he will ruin our country" nearly always in reference to LNP leader Tony Abbott, or writing things that hyperbolise and distort public opinions, making people feel bad or wrong or stupid for feeling differently from yourself is just plain WRONG. Reposting stupid news articles from news.au (et al) that distort the truth and relay opinion as fact and by making so many outrageous political comments might make you feel informed and intelligent and on some moral high ground, but all you are doing is taking a great forum like social media and making it yet another social forum where people dont feel free to debate and converse on issues. You might thing that News limited is out to get you, or on the other side of the fence that the ABC is conspiring to undermine your every move, but ultimately YOU are responsible for the perpetuation of poor and uneducated political conversation in this country, YOU and YOU alone.
