So I started College. One of the classes I am taking is Confronting Terrorism. I wasnt able to make the first video class due to work schedule so I had to write a summary on the word (definition) terrorism. So this is what I wrote and turned in. Give me your feedback.... Thanks The word terrorism has not been able to be produced by definition. It means different things to different people due to history itself. History has shaped what people think terrorism means. Teresa brought up that terrorism is to instill fear. I totally agree with her on that discussion topic, but it has more of a political content to it; more now, then it did in the early French Revolution. I also believe that terrorism has almost a 50/50 mix to it. 50 5 political and 50% religious context to it. Not since 9/11 have we really opened our eyes to the whole world of what terrorism is or can be all about. We seen a group of Islamic radicals fly a plane into the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon and we labeled them Terrorist. John Patrick Bedell, who was known for his anti-government conspiracy theories went into the Pentagon and shot it up, killing a few people, we called him a gunman. So this whole word as defined by some and not known by many is getting ready to become a real eye opener to the American public. From the Al-Quida to the rise of ISIS we are now facing what I believe is the real meaning of terrorism. (control,fear,drama and change). The media controls more of what terrorism and the effects of terrorism is. It is more than a tool they are using to instill fear upon its listeners, it is the HUB for communication. To me as an American and a Veteran, It can be seen as an act of terrorism from the mainstream media to subject (not only me but other Americans) to intimidate us by social objectives. I mean we are being intimidated by our own government, a civil and liberated people. So should or should we not label our government Terrorist.
