So, I typically dont jump on the photo hashtag campaign bandwagons. However, a guy on kik just asked me in conversation if I was clean. Now, for those of you who dont know, I am HIV negative. However, I know many people who are living with HIV and I find it very offensive to refer to someone who is HIV negative as being clean. Because in order for me to be clean, that means someone who is HIV positive has to be unclean or dirty. This kind of language creates negative stigmas and promotes the ostracisation of those who are HIV positive. So, if youre someone who using that language, please realize who you are hurting and stop. Now, Im not going to post a shower selfie, because I think its tacky, but I want to further promulgate the message that #weareallclean!
