So, I was diagnosed with Crohns disease in August of 2000. I was sicker than sick. I was hospitalized twice in 6 months (once, I was running a 106 degree fever). I remember crying and asking my Doctor these words. Am I going to be able to work? Today, I feel blessed to say YES I AM. I could have taken an easier path, but I would not have been as richly rewarded. I wouldnt have a career, and I wouldnt have been blessed with all the knowledge, experience, and friendships that I have gained along the way. Not to mention.. I would have been pretty bored. Today, I had some enhanced surveillance with my GI doc- Dr. Mertz..(a.k.a. Edward Snowden lol). I am not disease free, but I AM in remission. I feel blessed to be in this place, still learning and still working.
