So I was just walking my dog, and I walked by the parking lot by the deli, which had a couple of cars full of tough, hostile-looking teens just hanging out. One was smoking a cigarette. I approached them and saw them raising their hackles, so I told them there was no problem. I told them that some of us are thinking about starting a teen center, where they could hang out, play games, have programs, etc., and is that something that would interest them? Immediately a couple of them melted, and you could see the children they used to be in their faces. A few expressed outright interest, and the others kind of did a tough agreement type of expression. So... yes, I think boredom is a real problem, and it would be great to offer something, even to the teens with the hard shells on. (As you can probably tell, I dont scare easily.) :-)
