So I was thinking last night about topics we could chat about on here, one that came to mind was how did you get bitten by the burlesque / variety bug? For me I met a girl while doing a week long art course in Devon who was doing burlesque back in 2003/2004. I thought it sounded wonderful but as I am neither a dancer or a size 8 I could never do it. Then in 2005 by chance I got asked by a friend to play a disgruntled circus performer in a mini film, who leaves her boyfriend and runs off to New York to become a burlesque dancer. The film was then played as a dream in the final play. I loved it and by chance I was going to New York that summer to work on a digital art project so I got some contacts from a New Your artist and decided to see if I could make life imitate art. I did it! I went to the Slipper Room and they booked me in. I ran around New York getting costume bits and trying to figure out how to tassel. My performance was so tame compared to Tigger and the rest of the show but I loved it and was hocked. So whats everyones story?
