So I went to chinese before work, and I noticed something amazing. There were two ghetto (one of only a few times Ive used that phrase in my life) looking black women, all dressed up in plastic-looking jewelry and bright clothes. Now, not to be sterotypical, but I was expecting them to be loud, obnoxious, and ignorant. And while one was on the phone, she was quite impatient, short-tempered, and a little rude to whomever she was talking to, mentioning a few times a man~ and he didnt do that~ in a diary of a mad black woman voice that I simply cannot convey properly in text....however, when she hung up.... It was like a complete transformation when she was talking to the other woman about - get this - old ancient greek mythological stories, and other such counterparts (such as one where they took Zues babyeating and turned it into he himself being more earthly powered, and his son being the one who tamed lightning). Now, Im unsure if I can emphasize just how much of a surprise this was to me from how starkly different their attitudes were from their dress. It was quite unbelievable. So much so that I eavesdropped on their conversation (hence the aforementioned story) and tried to listen to a few book titles. If I had to put a name to the experience, I would have to call it something along the lines of, Lequisha and Moniquas secret book club.
